RENEWABLES INTERNATIONAL / International magazine for renewables launched

Hanover (ots) – At Intersolar Europe in June, Germany’s leading investor magazine ERNEUERBARE ENERGIEN published by SunMediaVerlag of Hannover will be presenting its new international magazine RENEWABLES INTERNATIONAL. The first issue was presented to much acclaim at Windpower 2011 in Anaheim, California, and will now be presented to a wide range of investors from Asia and Europe at Intersolar in Munich for the first time.

RENEWABLES INTERNATIONAL is the new journal for investors who do business in projects and technologies involving renewable energy. In addition to wind power, the focus is also on photovoltaics, concentrated solar power, and biomass. The wide range of renewables poses great challenges for the grid, but a proper combination of these energy sources can provide regions and cities with affordable clean power. Renewables are one of the biggest development opportunities for currently underdeveloped regions and off-grid areas. These energy sources offer a solution for the drastic scarcity of clean drinking water in many parts of the world. Pumps powered by wind power or solar power make valuable potable groundwater available. In addition, solar technology can be used for desalinization to help remedy the water shortage in the Middle East and Northern Africa.

In addition, renewables take some of the burden off of the already tight budgets in underdeveloped nations, which have had to spend a lot of money importing diesel, natural gas, and uranium up to now. Sunlight, wind, biogas, and timber are available for free locally.

The first issue of RENEWABLES INTERNATIONAL focuses on the progress being made in thin-film technology, which is conquering a much larger share of the market in 2011; as a result, the price of solar panels continues to drop. An insightful report from Shanghai analyzes the problems that Chinese module manufacturers face without proper growth on their domestic market. Market researcher Henning Wicht of iSuppli analyzes inverter markets. The price of these components is now also dropping, mainly because of excess production and increasing competition from Asia. Another report focuses on concentrated solar power on the North American market.

You can pick up the new magazine at SunMediaVerlag’s stand in hall B3, booth 538.
