IFA 2009: Better in-car use of new mobile phones

Dabendorf (ots) – In Berlin, Funkwerk Dabendorf will be presenting numerous innovations for mobile communications – An iDapter connects an iPod to the car’s speaker system – Software update extends compatibility – New cradle concept for the Audio 2000 hands-free system – High-frequency signal amplifier provides broadband access in rural areas

At this year’s IFA, Funkwerk Dabendorf GmbH will be showing new products and innovative developments which allow an even broader range of mobile phones and their functions to be used in cars. One product to be exhibited will be an iDapter which brings music from an iPod into the car. The Brandenburg company will also be presenting two solutions which allow a wide selection of mobile phones to be integrated in vehicles: the latest software update 8.0 for the EGO series of Bluetooth hands-free systems provides the highest degree of compatibility with current mobile phone models. A new cradle concept for the Audio 2000 product line enables Funkwerk Dabendorf to launch specific cradles for new mobile phone models only shortly after these phones are launched on the market. All of the Brandenburg-based company’s multimedia and Bluetooth products demonstrate just how easy the professional integration of communication and entertainment solutions in a car can be. Funkwerk Dabendorf is exhibiting as a main exhibitor at IFA 2009 in Hall 9, Stand 113a.

One of the most important trends in the past few years has been the increasingly important role of the mobile phone, not just for making phone calls, but also as a storage medium for personal data and to provide mobile access to the Internet. At the world’s most important trade show for communication, information and enter-tainment, Funkwerk Dabendorf will be presenting itself as a leading manufacturer in mobile communication solutions.

Faster in-car use of new mobile phones

The Brandenburg specialists attach highest value to audio quality and compatibility, ease of use and a wide number of potential applications when developing their Bluetooth hands-free sets and products. The current software update 8.10 for the Bluetooth hands-free sets EGO Flash and EGO Look of the EGO product family has extended the list of devices the series is compatible with, in addition to further increasing speech and audio transmission quality.

Funkwerk Dabendorf remains at the cutting edge with its new cradle concept for the Audio 2000 hands-free system. Users who frequently change their mobile phone stand to benefit in particular from this new concept. To allow Audio 2000 charging cradles and active cradles to be adapted to the latest mobile phone models even faster, Funkwerk Dabendorf has developed a solution which enables the company to offer special, phone-specific cradles for any new model quickly after the phone is launched on the market. This concept also enables customized cradles to be made for less commonly available phones.

Professional integration

Quality “Made in Germany” and advanced integration options are the key character-istics of Funkwerk Dabendorf’s hand-free sets and accessories. The iDapter for the iPod, which is licensed by Apple, is an attractive complementary product for the EGO Flash and EGO Look Bluetooth hands-free systems. Using the Apple Dock Connector, the iPod is connected to the iDapter. The iDapter is built into the vehicle and directly connected to the hands-free system, which is used to control the iPod. All iPod track information, such as the title, artist and track length, is shown on the display of the hands-free set. An integrated iPod charging function ensures hours of boundless listening pleasure.

Automotive competence for home use

The expertise of the Funkwerk Dabendorf technicians in the field of fast wireless data transfer can now also be used at home. Based on Compenser technology, a special amplifier technology for the automotive industry, Funkwerk Dabendorf has developed the Home Compenser. The mobile radio communication amplifier for fast internet access is a solution for regions where broadband internet via UMTS is an alternative to DSL services. The transmission and reception amplifier is a solution in locations where the use of high-frequencies, such as UMTS, provides either no or only an unsatisfactory internet connection. This can be due to walls or heat insulation weakening the signal going to and from the base station. The electronic box amplifies the wireless signal between the device and the external aerial both in the transmission and receive direction. Therefore the Home Compenser is positioned inside the flat or house in a location where a stable UMTS signal is available. The Home Compenser can also be used in conjunction with a directional aerial in regions where there is no or only very slow internet reception. To do this, an external aerial is aligned with the nearest UMTS station. By using the Home Compenser wireless amplifier, a distance of up to several kilometres can be bridged, depending on the specific geographic characteristics of the location.
