German Start-ups Line Venture Capitalist Pockets / Germany Trade & Invest’s 1st Investment Forum

Berlin/Palo Alto (ots) – US venture capitalists TA Associates and Summit Partners announced this week a USD 350 million investment in German online game developer Bigpoint, adding to the growing list of US-based investments in German start-ups. Venture capital investments in German companies yield average returns of 11.4 percent. This compares with 7.7 percent in the USA, according to a recent Cepres study. To meet increasing investor interest in German high-tech start-ups, Germany Trade & Invest is hosting its first investment forum on April 28 in Menlo Park, California, to present investment opportunities for venture capitalists in Germany.

German start-ups like Crowdpark, Customer Alliance, Game Genetics and Zimory – all with positive revenue streams – will be showcasing their innovative business models. These IT companies solve problems ranging from facilitating back-end cloud computing (Zimory) to providing hotel review aggregation to increase booking revenues (Customer Alliance). Gaming is also a hot field. ‘Dynamic betting’ (Crowdpark) may soon enter our vocabulary and a one-stop international portal for online gaming (Game Genetics) is around the corner.

“German start-ups offer a wealth of potential for venture capital investors and business angels. Not only is Germany one of the world’s innovation leaders, German entrepreneurs also excel at generating reliable and steady returns,” states Dr. Jürgen Friedrich, Chief Executive of Germany Trade & Invest.

Leading venture capital representatives will participate in the event – Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Wellington Partners, BASF Venture Capital, and event partner High-Tech Gründerfonds – as well as American companies like First Solar with a strong representation in Germany’s high-tech eastern regions.

Germany Trade & Invest is the foreign trade and inward investment promotion agency of the Federal Republic of Germany.
