As proposed by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Friedrich Carl Janssen, and in consultation with the CEO, Dr. Thomas Middelhoff, the Standing Committee has unanimously agreed to suggest to the Supervisory Board that Dr. Karl-Gerhard Eick be appointed the new CEO of Arcandor AG with effect from March 1, 2009. Dr. Middelhoff will leave office at the same time. The Supervisory Board will hold an extraordinary meeting on Thursday, December 4, 2008. This year for the second time Dr. Thomas Middelhoff had extended his mandate as CEO for a limited period of time to then engage in corporate activities outside the Group again.
