The Curanum Group´s first-quarter revenue was up by EUR 1.6 million year-to-year to reach EUR 64 million The increase was mainly due to the start-up of the new care home in Wachtendonk and also reflects a slightly higher occupancy rate. Operating EBITDA of EUR 6.1 million were slightly below the previous year´s result of EUR 6.3 million. The EUR 6.1 million earnings of the first quarterly period include one-off effects of consultancy expenses for the company´s capital increase and refinancing in order to implement the notified expansion strategy. The first-quarter net financial result stood at EUR -2.4 million, representing EUR 0.3 million decline. This year-on-year reduction is mainly attributable to higher interest expenses connected with new finance leases. Consequently, first-quarter earnings after tax amounted to EUR 0.5 million. This represents a decrease by EUR 0.6 million compared to last year´s result.
The present interim CEO Walther Wever will be at Curanum AG´s disposal beyond June 30th 2011, until a successor is found who will continue the strategic reorientation.
