(pressebox) Dresden, 28.05.2009, The Dresden development and innovation company DriveConcepts has launched MDESIGN LVR and MDESIGN LVRplanet – two new, very specialised software packages for optimisation and calculation of spur and planetary gear units.
The objective of MDESIGN LVR and LVRplanet, which took more than three years to develop, was to create more precise calculation methods and a comprehensive compendium of example models and parameters to improve energy efficiency and optimum prevention of wear on gear elements.
Current standards such as DIN 3990 or ISO 6336 only contain formulae which offer an approximation of ideal values. In addition, special ancillary conditions and influencing factors are not fully incorporated.
MDESIGN LVR goes one step further with its numerous optimisation options to include aspects such as energy efficiency, decrease of emissions, noise reduction and improvement of performance.
Therefore MDESIGN LVR does not simply cover the spectrum of user-friendly calculation software but offers the user numerous options for optimisation and improvement of the planning and design of spur gear units. This includes detailed examination and analysis of gearing contacts and specific integration of ambient deformation.
MDESIGN LVRplanet offers experienced users the same spectrum as a state-of-the-art calculation software such as MDESIGN LVR, but designed especially for calculating and optimising planetary gear units.
The target groups for both software solutions in the design sector are the classic branches where drive units are used, such as automotive and ships, plant engineering and toolbuilding and, more specifically, wind turbine manufacturers in today’s energy industry.
Prevention of premature material fatigue and maximum fitting accuracy of the elements used through exact, precision calculations ensure longer life cycles of components and more lasting conservation of resources.
Of particular benefit for users of both programs are the comprehensive, readily accessible documentation and a highly intuitive and hence quick and easy to use interface for designers with little experience in the application of calculation programs. In addition MDESIGN LVR and MDESIGN LVRplanet include a wizard for automatic geometry creation for toothings and planet carriers as well as automatic model generation and evaluation.
MDESIGN LVRplanet for planetary gear units is based on MDESIGN LVR for spur gear units. The Department of Machine Elements at the Technical University of Dresden was a significant contributor to the development of the software. The product MDESIGN LVRplanet and its development were sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Research and Development.
