Datamonitor acquires assets of the Brown-Wilson Group

(pressebox) London, 30.04.2009, Datamonitor is delighted to announce that it has today acquired the assets of the Brown-Wilson Group, for an undisclosed sum. As part of the deal Doug Brown and Scott Wilson, directors of the company and authors of The Black Book of Outsourcing, are joining the Datamonitor group.

The Brown-Wilson Group and Black Book annually surveys user organisations’ satisfaction with their outsourcing service providers and consultants. The Black Book ranking is based on client testimonials and feedback, with each service provider evaluated on a scale of 1-10 on 20 key performance indicators. Black Book invites over 400,000 individuals to participate in the ranking process. "The Black Book is known as the leading independent unbiased ranking of vendors as it surveys qualified users and is externally audited," Scott Wilson of Brown-Wilson comments.

The acquisition is an important strategic move for Datamonitor. Black Book research, coupled with Orbys’s expertise at the sharp end of sourcing, Ovum’s in-depth understanding of the suppliers and Datamonitor’s vertical coverage, establishes a unique base for providing client organisations with pragmatic and relevant research and advice about their sourcing strategy, implementation and management challenges.

Mark Meek, Chief Executive of Datamonitor states, "I am thrilled to be announcing this acquisition which is exactly in line with our international growth strategy. The Black Book of Outsourcing is a world-leading brand, with a reputation for independent research and a first-class client list. This acquisition provides excellent synergies and strengthens Datamonitor’s position as a key provider of sourcing research and advice, at the critical juncture between vendors and buyers. The counter-cyclical nature of sourcing means it is an excellent acquisition for the Group at this time."

"We will launch a consolidated offering, gathering together for the first time the rich sourcing data, research and analysis offerings across all Datamonitor group industry verticals globally, together with the content from this Black Book of Outsourcing acquisition and Ovum, together with Orbys, our strategic sourcing consulting business, to offer integrated, expertise-led, sourcing solutions for all our clients’ sourcing needs," comments Angela Wyatt, Managing Director of Datamonitor’s global consulting business.
