(pressebox) Regensdorf, 21.10.2009,
Gericke dense phase conveying systems with pressure vessels are utilized for all processes that require:
- gentle conveying
- low segregation
- low wear
- low air and energy consumption.
In addition to the points above, another advantage when using the dense phase conveying systems with pressure vessels rather than the conventional lean phase conveying systems with rotary valves is that no part rotates in the product stream. In lean phase conveying systems, the continuously rotating rotary valve could cause fine metallic attrition when coming in contact with the housing and thereby contaminate the product. Another disadvantage when using rotary valves in conveying systems is air leakage. This occurs on account of the gap between the rotor and the housing. Due to wear on the rotary valves, the gap gets bigger which leads to increased leakage of air and reduced capacity and ultimately to conveying problems including pipe blockages.
That is why Gericke has designed a conveying system with mini-pressure vessels to replace rotary valves in existing conveying plants respectively in processes where limited ceiling height is available for the conveying system.
The Gericke dense phase conveying system mini-double vessel type PTAD 20 combines the advantages of a plug conveying system with the advantages of a space-saving execution. The system consists of two 20 l pressure vessels which guarantee continuous operation. Either the conveying vessels are delivered with a common inlet tube or they are directly connected to the upstream process. This makes installation heights of 750 mm possible. Depending on the choice of tube diameter (DN65 – DN100) and on the product to be conveyed, capacities of 4 – 10 m3/h can be achieved.
Several conveying systems of this type are already successfully in operation in the food industry in connection with products such as milk powder, whey powder, gelatine, granules and various premixes. The twin conveyor PTAD 20 is also well suited for the gentle conveying of granulates.
In the Gericke Test Centers, not only this mini-double vessel system type PTAD 20, but all kinds of pneumatic conveying techniques can be tested to determine the exact conveying parameters. By carrying out trials, knowledge concerning product quality (attrition) and product build-up in pipes can be acquired. Furthermore, Gericke offers various rental units to be used on site.
We look forward to meeting you at the easyFairs Schüttgut exhibition (4.+ 5.11.2009, hall 6, stand D:4)
