CeBIT’s organizers have already secured the first of many high-profile guest speakers for the CeBIT Global Conferences 2012. CGC features leading figures from the international digital world and is the No. 1 conference event for the global ICT industry. Among the speakers already signed up for the 2012 event (6 to 9 March) are: Dr. Werner Vogels, CTO, Amazon; Jacob Aqraou, General Manager, eBay Classifieds Group; Michael Rhodin, Senior Vice President, IBM Software Solutions Group; B. Kevin Turner, COO, Microsoft; Hamid Akhavan, CEO, Siemens Enterprise Communications; Larsh Johnson, co- founder and CTO, eMeter.com; and Mikael Hed, CEO Rovio.
The CeBIT Global Conferences examine key issues in IT, telecommunications, digital media and consumer electronics. The lead themes for 2012 include intelligent networks, new approaches to the Cloud, Internet and lifestyle, and social business. The CeBIT Global Conferences are targeted at decision makers from industrial companies that use technology, the ICT sector, entrepreneurs and multipliers (media organizations, industry associations, etc.).
Each day of the Conferences has a different theme. Day One, Tuesday 6 March, is themed “All things smart” and is dedicated to energy supply sustainability, intelligent traffic control systems, mobility, education and health. The keynote speakers are Michael Rhodin of IBM and Microsoft’s B. Kevin Turner. The day’s proceedings will conclude with a discussion panel titled “Smart Car – Smart Grid – Smart Cities.” The speakers here include Larsh Johnson, the CTO of eMeter, the US-based market leader in smart grid management software.
The main theme for Wednesday 7 March is “Flying the Cloud.” The topics covered include cloud storage and cloud processes, privacy, mobility and convergence. The keynote speakers include Dr. Werner Vogels, Amazon’s global CTO and second-in-command behind CEO Jeff Bezos. Another of the keynote addresses will be given by Hamid Akhavan, CEO of Siemens Enterprise Communications, a joint venture between the US-based private equity firm The Gores Group and Germany’s Siemens AG. The closing panel discussion is titled “Managing Big Data and Trust,” which ties in neatly with the overall theme for CeBIT 2012, “Managing Trust.”
The keynote addresses and panel discussions on Thursday 8 March are themed “Upgrade your Lifestyle: Entertainment, Mobility, Content.” The day’s keynote speakers include games developer Mikael Hed of Rovio. Hed’s claim to fame is the game “Angry Birds,” which he published in 2009 and which has since clocked up more than 400 million downloads worldwide.
Friday 9 March centers around the convergence of social networks and business and is themed “Social Business: Listen, Share, Care.” One of the keynote addresses will be delivered by eBay’s Jacob Aqraou. Having started out as the world’s very first consumer-to-consumer marketplace, eBay is now increasingly developing into a business-to- consumer platform and now offers new goods from commercial providers as well as second hand goods from other users.
The CeBIT Global Conferences staged during CeBIT 2011 featured more than 50 high-profile international speakers, among them EU Commissioner Neelie Kroes, Ford CEO Alan Mulally, Mozilla CEO Gary Kovacs, Capgemini CEO Paul Hermelin, leading US blogger Chris Pirillo, and Salesforce co-founder Parker Harris. More than 3,200 people from over 100 countries attended the event’s keynote addresses, talks and panel discussions. The live streams of the CeBIT Global Conferences were accessed more than 20,000 times, while the on-demand versions attracted more than 70,000 views.
