(pressebox) Graz, 11.11.2008 – Sundwig GmbH, based in Hemer, Germany, a member of international technology Group Andritz, received orders from ThyssenKrupp Steel AG and from Antwerp Decoil Center to supply and erect specialized equipment for processing hot rolled plates and hot rolled strip for a total order value of over 25 MEUR.

ThyssenKrupp Steel AG, Germany ordered a leveler, which serves to improve the shape of tempered plates, for its Hüttenheim works in Duisburg. The precision leveling machine covers a working range from 3 to 60 mm thickness, with material yield strengths of up to 1,800 N/mm², plate widths of up to 3,800 mm and plate lengths of up to 16,500 mm. On account of the high strengths and thicknesses involved, the plates are leveled at temperatures of up to 500° C. To cope with the large thickness range, the leveler is equipped with a patented cassette changing system, which accommodates cassettes with rolls of different diameters. This system works fully automatically and enables roll changing times of less than 25 minutes – a real innovation for this type of hot levelers.

Antwerp Decoil Center B. V., Belgium ordered a cut-to-length line for its new service centre for strip thicknesses from 2 to 20 mm, at strip widths of up to 2,050 mm and maximum sheet lengths of 16,000 mm. The line consists of an uncoiler section with preleveler and crop shears, a precision leveler with patented cassette changing system, flying cross-cut shears, and a transfer stacker. The core of the line is the precision leveler which processes sheets and plates with yield strengths of up to

1,200 N/mm². Due to the large thickness range, three cassettes with different roll diameters are required. Cassette change is fully automatic and takes less than 12 minutes.

The customers selected Andritz because of the innovative, patented cassette design, which has proven its worth in several plants in Europe and Asia.
